About Me

I have always loved helping others learn, meeting them where they are, and developing solutions to move them where they need to be. From my days as a restaurant trainer, to my many years as an educator and instructional facilitator, and my current career as an Instructional Designer, I have spent over 20 years designing and facilitating instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, and e-Learning courses for diverse learners by analyzing strengths, weaknesses, and learning gaps to help businesses meet their goals.

I currently develop learning solutions for a non-profit, where I continue to focus on creative solutions and modalities that meet the unique needs of each learner, are accessible on all learning devices, and help achieve business goals.

As a lifelong learner and educator, I continue to stay abreast of instructional design best practices while helping others learn and grow in the field of instructional design. As a mentor for the Applied Instructional Design Academy, I rely on my own experience while coaching members working toward certifications in e-Learning and Instructional Design by providing feedback on work completed during the course, leading bi-monthly coaching calls, and designing and delivering Instructional Design training.

I am proficient in:

 Articulate Storyline | Articulate Rise | Camtasia | Vyond | Powtoon | Canva | 7taps | Microsoft Suite   Google Suite | Design Documents | Storyboarding | Writing | Editing | Proofreading

Using the ADDIE model during the instructional design process:

🧩I conduct a needs analysis in order to understand the learning gaps.

🧩Using backward design, I develop an action map by figuring out what the end goal is, what behavior changes are desired, and what practice activities are needed to get there.

🧩 I develop the training plan and choose the appropriate modality.

🧩I build experiences to align with learning objectives, while using adult learning theories to design learner-centered environments that empower participants and help them retain and apply information needed in their everyday lives.

🧩 I love finding creative ways to bring learning to life, increase engagement and meet the needs of both the learners and the client.

When I'm not in the world of instructional design, I can be found reading, rocking out at concerts, traveling, listening to true crime podcasts, dominating family game nights, cheering on the sidelines of a soccer field, or assembling a new puzzle.
